A 40 day e-trip through Lent

e-trip to Jerusalem

An Online 40 Day Journey to Jerusalem for your body, soul, and mind.

During the 40 days of Lent, you are invited to :

1 – Read, meditate, and pray through the Gospel of Mark, and
2 – Travel the distance between Nazareth and Jerusalem - from Jesus’ hometown to the cross and empty grave.  The distance is about 148 kilometers or 92 miles. This averages 2.3 miles a day for 40 days (remember we rest on the Sabbath).  Travel it anyway you want – walk it, cycle it, run it; you decide.  But save the last 2.3 miles for Easter Sunday morning as you RUN from the empty tomb with Good News!

There are 4 components to each day:
1)           Daily assigned continuous reading of the Gospel of Mark
2)           Guided T.R.I.P. meditation of daily text *(see instructions below)
3)           Suggested daily mileage marker
4)           Breath prayer to be used through the day

The T.R.I.P. Prayer Method
Since 1989, Mount Carmel has been teaching people to pray the scriptures by encouraging people to ask four questions as they are reading. These questions are similar to those used by Martin Luther as he prayed through the scriptures. Use the following questions to pray through the Gospel of Mark each day:
  1. THANKS: What in this text makes me thankful?
  2. REGRET: What in this text causes me regret?
  3. INTERCESSION (prayer): What does this text lead me to pray for?
  4. PURPOSE: What action does this text encourage me to take today?

Blessings on the Journey.
